This unique facility appeared in Frunze in the 1930s.Initially it was made of wood but the citizens liked it so much that in theearly 1950s the authorities decided to immortalize it in stone. Sixteen sodamachines and one cash register were installed in the pavilion. In the center ofthe room on a pedestal a figure of a girl by sculptor Olga Manuilova wasinstalled. The pavilion welcomed guests in warm seasons from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.It was last reconstructed in the 1980s.
"When the country beganprivatization, the land and the building were leased for 49 years. It was beingoperated, but there was no proper oversight. And the owner (lessee) should, according to the law and protective obligations, keep it in a proper condition:repair, restore, and so on. This has not been done for many years, and thebuilding has fallen into an unsatisfactory condition: the fountains have ceasedto work, the decorative elements began to deteriorate," said Jumamedel Imankulov.
He added that last year, the owner(tenant) applied to Kyrgyz Restoration for the development of a restorationproject. "We found a foreign investor who agreed to invest money, ofcourse, on the condition that the building will work, bring profit. We are nowcompleting the project documentation, but the preparatory work allowed by thecustomer has already begun: the territory has been fenced off, demolition isunderway.
